I removed the home button a while back based on user feedback on Crackberry. The toolbar was getting very cluttered. You can really see that on bb10.

Anyway if you press your tabs button and X your current tab – when you exit the tab page your browser goes home. Or you can select a new tab which also defaults to home.

I’m debating adding a custom toolbar for the next major release. But it’s a lot of delicate work so I haven’t fully decided yet…

It certainly can do that.

Basically, you need several things…

1) The Media Software needs to be configured to use a specific port
2) Your Router needs to be told what PC to send that port to when your outside your home
3) Your PlayBook needs to be told what port to use
4) Your PC needs to allow that port as well (Firewall and Antivirus can block it)

I’m hoping to do a big update after BB10 launches that should some people with Media Connect / Connect to TVersity !

I was really excited to see your tutorial and have tried, tried and tried again to make it work for me. I was wondering if you would be able to give me an idea of what I’m doing wrong.

I’ve followed your directions and the only different thing that I’ve had to face was my router. I’m using a Bipac 7300n router and the port mapping section looks a little different. This is what it contains and in brackets is what I have it set to: application (TVersity), Protocol (TCP), External Port (9999)~(9999), internal ip address (192.168.1.3), internal port (left blank), Time Schedule (always on). I have added more for each port number listed in your instructions.

I’ve tried a few variations such as setting the port number as an internal port and leaving the external port blank but it requires an external port, have tried setting both internal and external to 9999, again no luck.

Is it possible for a anti-virus program such as sophos would be blocking the connection? Am I just doing something small wrong? Any feedback would be amazing!!

Uninstall TVersity
Install klite media pack
Install TVersity
Note: When prompted install ffsdhow, etc etc.

On your pc make sure he video plays
On your pc access the interface locally via: http://localhostport#/flashlib i think it is.

It usually means that ffdshow did not install correctly or is missing codecs. I use AVIs in xvid, and divx predominently. If it still has problems you can wmail me throuh the support link or on here under contact me and ill help.

I try using media connect on a BBPlaybook with tversity. The connection works, but when i want to start a video (all videos are avi-files with xvid) i get an error “Error loading this video, please make sure the media server is running, the video exists and can be converted to flash video. A you missing a directshow filter?”.
Please help me.

I’ve just installed this app to use with Twonkymedia, it appears to be connected but then it won’t show anything other than the configuration page and I’m not sure what it’s meant to look like!

Currently I am working on porting this to BB10 with about 40 of my other apps – specifically for the dev alpha which uses 1280×768 as well as phones (1280×720) and (720×720). This is requiring a lot of UI work for resizing and restructuring for all the apps. Especially when you consider the PlayBook uses 1024×600 – which is inversely proportionate to the device sizes. Meaning the current Secure Browser does not scale well.

I currently have requests to add custom themes + 1 new theme – which should allow you to set it up in a way that is better for you.

I have animations on the back burner as I work on functionality changes. It is on the radar but with the number of apps I am pushing changes to for BB10 (and my daytime work requiring a lot of time these days) I suspect animations will not be here for BB10.

Could you please add some animations when showing tabs, opening tabs and closing tabs, etc? It’s too blocky. Also, Is it possible to introduce one more theme for icons, that looks really nice? I personally don’t like all the themes available cause they look really ugly… I like this browser because I can choose user agent to iPad, and also have more than 4 tabs, unlike simple browser. Also, just ONE more thing, the “x” in the tabs page are really ugly too in my opinion, with the red colour. Is it possible to use some modern looking “x” icon? Thanks, and I’ll be waiting!!

Currently there is no way to stream FLAC audio to playbook. Most audiofiles keep music files as FLAC files and are to big to store on say a 16 gig playbook. Most have given up looking as the hardware is over a year and a half old now. The PB is on sale as low as $99 and new users galore now. I am sure you could sell many more apps just because of this feature. Today a new user in Crackberry forums asked about this.

My only thoughts are, try a reinstall. As a last possible suggestion, go into Options > General and toggle Application Behavior to Showcase.

This might be my error! Don’t worry about troubleshooting yet. If I can see the error in the code tomorrow we will have a patch purty quick.

Unfortunately yes it requires access to a PC for video transcoding, which means a PC must be avialable. However, you can access your PC from work / etc even over Bridge.

Using PlayOn to reach Netflix is even easier. While at home, connect to your PC via PlayOn in the connection settings. While at work, use the same settings. The PlayOn website will automatically handle the rest.

But in both use cases you will need a PC turned on at home or a VPS with a strong connection.

I have a blackberry playbook and I have installed playing to my computer and I have added app to my playbook but I cannot get netflix or anything if my computer is not on. It only works if I am at home. Can you please help me with this matter

Unfortunately the playbook does not support embedded pdfs. The best we can do is Hold down over the link and selec Download. It will save the pdf to your dovuments I believe or downloads (don’t remember which one it puts pdfs in)

Hmm thats odd. No special options but it does have a dependency.

Checking permissions:
Swipe down and go into Options
Select Security > Application Permissions
(it may take a minute to load)
Look for Secure Browser / Secure Browser Trial
Make sure Files says Allowed

If you have to change that setting, restart Secure Browser

Enable Logging
Go to your Options in the app
Go all the way right
Turn Logging: On

Try an Export
From the main view, press the second icon from the right (Favorites View)
Press Export
Type in a single word, no extension. Such as “bookmarktest”
Press OK

Try an Import
Press Import
Select Add (best way to test, so you dont overwrite your current bookmarks)
Find your file (probably last page, last item)
Press OK

If no file exists,

Check what files were created
Connect your PB to your PC via Wifi or USB
Browse your files
Go to /shared/documents
See if your bookmarks exists with the wrong extension?
Look for SecBLogFile.txt
